Al Castle
VP of Engineering and Security
Al Castle is Nerdy’s VP of Engineering & Security, overseeing teams in Customer Acquisition, Infrastructure, Data & Machine Learning Engineering, I.T., and Security. Joining in 2021, he brings extensive experience in building, scaling, and securing SaaS & PaaS platforms, products, and businesses, including PR, Marketing, cloud communications, first responder & military solutions, big data analytics, and e-commerce. Before joining Nerdy, Al served as the VP of Engineering & Product for Flowroute, successfully guiding the company to acquisition by Intrado. Prior to Flowroute, Al led the Seattle division for Motorola Solutions, where he transitioned first responder and military on-premise solutions to the cloud. Throughout his career, Al has demonstrated a track record of growing engineering teams and products, guiding start-ups through rounds of funding, due diligence, and acquisition.
